After gaining 14 years of professional experience, I sincerely believe that proactive and selfless services I render to several governmental and non-governmental organizations as a volunteer in the domain of DRR possess great value in my life. Remarkably, I have been volunteering for the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) since 2011, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shimla in the state and the Municipal Corporation, Shimla  for coordinating the statewide Mass Awareness Campaign on Disaster Risk Reduction titled as "Samarth". Given below are two pictures that depict the appreciation I have received from the government authorities for my consistent voluntary services towards making 'Samarth' a great success.

From 2011 to 2012, I worked as the Capacity Building & Training Associate for Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) in the Govt. of India - UNDP Disaster Risk Reduction Programme (2009-2012). It was a United Nations Volunteers (UNV) contract and I rendered my services to the state under the guidance of Mr. D. C. Rana, a senior government officer and renowned DRM expert, who has been instrumental in strengthening the Disaster Management related mechanisms and processes in the state, even before the Disaster Management Act, 2005 was enacted.

In the year 2012, UNDP India published a case-study on my work as a United Nations Volunteer in a special compendium on volunteerism in India titled as 'Volunteering in India: Contexts, Perspectives and Discourses'. Click on the image below to learn more.
